Biography

Gary Basaraba (born 16 March 1959) is a Canadian actor. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, he graduated from the Yale School of Drama in 1982.

He played Sheriff Grady Kilgore in Fried Green Tomatoes (1991) and has collaborated three times with Martin Scorsese, appearing as Saint Andrew in The Last Temptation of Christ (1988), Frank 'Fitz' Fitzsimmons in The Irishman (2019) and Detective Burns in Killers of the Flower Moon (2023). On television he has played Sergeant Richard Santoro in Brooklyn South (1997–1998) and Officer Ray Hechler in Boomtown (2002–2003). Other film roles include Jack Grainger in One Magic Christmas (1985), Homer Zuckerman in Charlotte's Web (2006) and the voice of Hefty Smurf in The Smurfs (2011).
