Biography
Graham Greene (22 June 1952 – 1 September 2025) was a Canadian First Nations (Oneida) actor and recording artist. He was born in Ohsweken on the Six Nations Reserve in Ontario and began his career in the late 1970s with stage work and early television and film roles.
He achieved international recognition for his performance as Kicking Bird in Dances with Wolves (1990), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Other notable film roles include appearances in Thunderheart (1992), Maverick (1994), Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995), The Green Mile (1999), The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009), Wind River (2017) and Molly's Game (2017).
Greene also worked extensively in television and theatre. He received a Grammy Award, Gemini Awards, Canadian Screen Awards and a Dora Mavor Moore Award. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada and received the Governor General's Performing Arts Award in 2025.
