Biography
Herb Wallerstein (also credited as Herbert Wallerstein) was an American television director and producer. Born in New York City on 28 November 1925, he began his career as an assistant director in 1954 on the series The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin and later worked on films including The Tingler (1959). He transitioned to directing episodes of numerous television series from the 1960s onwards.
Wallerstein directed four episodes of the third season of Star Trek (1966), including "The Tholian Web" and "Turnabout Intruder". He also directed episodes of Mission: Impossible (1966), I Dream of Jeannie (on which he served as associate producer), Gunsmoke, The Brady Bunch, Happy Days, Wonder Woman and The Six Million Dollar Man. In 1978 he joined 20th Century Fox as senior vice president of feature film production, overseeing titles such as Alien (1979), 9 to 5 (1980) and The Verdict (1982). He retired in 1984 and died in Los Angeles on 27 September 1985.
