Biography
Marvin J. Chomsky (1929–2022) was an American television and film director and producer. Born in New York City, he graduated from Syracuse University in 1950 and began his career in the industry as an art director and set decorator before directing from 1964 onwards.
He directed episodes of numerous series including Star Trek (1966), Mission: Impossible (1966), The Wild Wild West (1965), Gunsmoke (1955) and Hawaii Five-O (1969). Later he worked extensively on made-for-television films and miniseries such as Roots (1977), Holocaust (1978) and Tank (1984).
Chomsky won four Emmy Awards for directing, including for Holocaust (1978), Attica (1980), Inside the Third Reich (1982) and Peter the Great (1986). He was a cousin of linguist Noam Chomsky.
