Biography

Ian Barnes is a British television and film director. He was born in Coventry and attended Bablake School there. His early work included directing an episode of the documentary series Future Fantastic in 1996.

Barnes has directed episodes of numerous British television series, including Skins (2007), Casualty, EastEnders, Holby City, Death in Paradise and Mount Pleasant. He also directed the short films Swing (2002) and Wish 143 (2009), the latter of which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Live Action Short Film.

His work on Casualty earned BAFTA nominations, and Wish 143 won awards at festivals including Palm Springs International ShortFest and the British Independent Film Festival.
