Biography
J. Miles Dale is a Canadian film and television producer and director. He is best known for producing The Shape of Water (2017), which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
Dale is a frequent collaborator of director Guillermo del Toro. Their joint projects include Mama (2013), the television series The Strain, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019), Nightmare Alley (2021) and Frankenstein (2025). He has also served as executive producer or unit production manager on films including Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010), The Vow (2012) and Carrie (2013).
Born in Toronto in 1961, Dale is the son of British-born Canadian jazz musician Jimmy Dale. He attended the University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia before entering the film industry.
