Biography

Jacques Audiard is a French film director, screenwriter and producer. Born in Paris on 30 April 1952, he is the son of screenwriter Michel Audiard. He began his career as an assistant editor and screenwriter in the 1970s and 1980s before making his directorial debut with See How They Fall (1994).

Audiard is known for films including Read My Lips (2001), The Beat That My Heart Skipped (2005), A Prophet (2009), Rust and Bone (2012), Dheepan (2015), The Sisters Brothers (2018), Paris, 13th District (2021) and Emilia Pérez (2024), on which he also served as producer. His work has received numerous César Awards, a Palme d'Or at Cannes for Dheepan, and other international recognition.
