Biography
Jimmy MacDonald (also credited as James MacDonald and John James MacDonald) was a voice actor and sound effects artist. He joined Walt Disney Productions in the 1930s as a musician and became head of the studio’s sound effects department.
MacDonald provided voices for numerous Disney animated films and shorts. His credits include Jaq and Gus in Cinderella (1950), the Dormouse in Alice in Wonderland (1951), Lumpjaw in Fun and Fancy Free (1947), and roles in The Jungle Book (1967), The Sword in the Stone (1963) and The Rescuers (1977). He was the official voice of Mickey Mouse from 1947 until 1977.
He also created thousands of sound effects for Disney productions and appeared in a small number of live-action credits, including work on Mary Poppins (1964).
