Biography
Javier Aguirresarobe Zubía is a Spanish cinematographer born on 10 October 1948 in Éibar, Guipúzcoa, in the Basque Country. He studied at the Official School of Cinematography in Madrid after a diploma in optics and began working as a cinematographer in the early 1980s.
He first gained wider recognition in Spain through collaborations with directors such as Imanol Uribe and Montxo Armendáriz, winning several Goya Awards for cinematography. International attention followed with his work on Secrets of the Heart (1997) and, most notably, The Others (2001), directed by Alejandro Amenábar.
Aguirresarobe has since worked on numerous Hollywood productions, including Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008), the Twilight films (2009–2010), The Road (2009), Blue Jasmine (2013) and Thor: Ragnarok (2017). He is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers.
