Biography

Cate Blanchett is an Australian actor, born on 14 May 1969 in Melbourne, Victoria. She trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Art and began her career on the Australian stage, appearing in productions including Electra (1992) and Hamlet (1994).

She came to international attention for her portrayal of Elizabeth I in the 1998 film Elizabeth. Blanchett is known for her role as Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001–2003) and the Hobbit films (2012–2014), as well as performances in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) and Thor: Ragnarok (2017). She appeared as Lena Brandt in The Good German (2006) and Kathryn St. Jean in Black Bag (2025). She has received two Academy Awards for acting.
