Biography

Jay Cassidy is an American film editor. He began his career in the 1970s working on documentaries and political advertising, and has edited dozens of films since 1978.

He has edited all the feature films directed by Sean Penn. His credits include An Inconvenient Truth (2006), for which he won an American Cinema Editors Eddie Award for documentary editing, Into the Wild (2007), Silver Linings Playbook (2012), American Hustle (2013), Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) (2020) and A Star Is Born (2018). He received Academy Award nominations for best film editing for Into the Wild, Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, and has won additional Eddie and Satellite Awards.

Cassidy holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and is a member of the American Cinema Editors.
