Biography

Jed Brophy is a New Zealand actor. He was born on 29 October 1963 in Taihape and trained at Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School, graduating in 1987 with a Diploma in Acting. He began screen work in the late 1980s.

Brophy has appeared in several films directed by Peter Jackson. These include Braindead (1992), Heavenly Creatures (1994) as John/Nicholas, the Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001–2003), King Kong (2005) and the Hobbit trilogy (2012–2014) as the dwarf Nori. He also played a police officer in District 9 (2009) and appeared in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022).

His son Sadwyn Brophy appeared in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003).
