Biography

Joe Mantegna is an American actor. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on 13 November 1947, he began his career in theatre, appearing in the Chicago production of Hair in 1969. He earned a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his performance as Richard Roma in the original Broadway production of David Mamet's Glengarry Glen Ross (1984).

Mantegna has appeared in numerous films, including The Godfather Part III (1990) as Joey Zasa and Bugsy (1991) as George Raft. He has also worked extensively in television, starring as FBI Special Agent David Rossi in Criminal Minds since 2007. Since 1991 he has voiced the recurring character Fat Tony on the animated series The Simpsons.

Mantegna received Emmy Award nominations for his performances in the miniseries The Last Don (1997), The Rat Pack (1998) and The Starter Wife (2007).
