Biography
John Kneubuhl (2 July 1920 – 20 February 1992) was an American Samoan screenwriter, playwright and Polynesian historian. Born in Pago Pago, American Samoa, he attended Punahou School in Hawaii and studied playwriting at Yale University under Thornton Wilder. He wrote for numerous American television series in the 1950s and 1960s, including five episodes of The Fugitive (1963), eight of The Wild Wild West (1965), for which he created the recurring villain Dr Miguelito Loveless, and the story for the Star Trek (1966) episode 'Bread and Circuses' (uncredited on screen).
Kneubuhl also contributed to The Invaders (1967), Hawaii Five-O (1968) and other series. His stage work includes the play Think of a Garden and earlier pieces such as The Harp in the Willows. He wrote and directed the 1959 biographical film Damien.
