Biography

Jonathan Hensleigh (born 13 February 1959) is an American screenwriter and film director. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1981 and earned a law degree from Tulane University Law School before practising as an attorney. He began writing for television with episodes of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles (1992).

Hensleigh received his first major film credit as writer on Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995). Subsequent screenwriting credits include Jumanji (1995), The Saint (1997) and Armageddon (1998). He made his directorial debut with The Punisher (2004) and has since directed Kill the Irishman (2011) and The Ice Road (2021). He is married to producer Gale Anne Hurd.
