Biography

Judd Hirsch is an American actor. He was born on 15 March 1935 in New York City.

Hirsch is known for his television roles as Alex Rieger in the series Taxi (1978–1983), John Lacey in Dear John (1988–1992) and Alan Eppes in Numb3rs (2005–2010). His film credits include Ordinary People (1980), Independence Day (1996) as Julius Levinson, A Beautiful Mind (2001), Independence Day: Resurgence (2016) as Julius Levinson, Uncut Gems (2019) and The Fabelmans (2022).

He has won two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, two Tony Awards for Best Actor in a Play and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy. He received Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor for Ordinary People and The Fabelmans.
