Biography
Julie Hébert is an American writer and director of theatre, film and television. She grew up on the Gulf Coast of Louisiana and began her career directing and writing plays in San Francisco, working with companies including the Magic Theater and Steppenwolf. Her plays have received two PEN Awards for Drama.
She wrote the screenplays for the films Female Perversions (1996), starring Tilda Swinton, and Ruby's Bucket of Blood (2001), starring Angela Bassett. In television she has directed episodes of The West Wing (2004), ER (2003–2004), Numb3rs (2007–2009), The Good Wife (2010), Nashville (2013–2015), American Crime (2016–2017), The Man in the High Castle (2019) and The Resident (2020–2023). She has also served as a writer and producer on several of these series.
Hébert's television work has earned a George Foster Peabody Award, a Prism Award and Emmy nominations.
