Biography
Julie Weiss is an American costume designer. She was born on 10 January 1947 in Los Angeles, California. She trained at the University of California, Berkeley, where she received a B.F.A. in 1969, and at Brandeis University, where she received an M.F.A. in 1971. She began her career in theatre and has worked in film and television since the mid-1970s.
Weiss is known for her work on Twelve Monkeys (1995), American Beauty (1999), Frida (2002) and The Ring (2002). She received Academy Award nominations for Best Costume Design for Twelve Monkeys and Frida, and has won two Primetime Emmy Awards and two Costume Designers Guild Awards. She was also nominated for a Tony Award for her costume design on the 1979 Broadway production of The Elephant Man.
