Biography

Kabir Akhtar is an American television director and editor. He began his career as an editor on music and documentary series including Behind the Music, later editing the pilot episodes of ten series. He served as an editor on the fourth season of Arrested Development (2013).

Akhtar transitioned to directing, with credits including episodes of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (2015), on which he also worked as producer and won a Primetime Emmy Award for editing the pilot. He has directed episodes of Never Have I Ever (2020), Young Sheldon (2017), Superstore (2015), High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (2019), Ghosts (2021), The Sex Lives of College Girls (2021), Resident Alien (2021), grown-ish (2018) and The Mysterious Benedict Society (2021). He has also directed segments for the Academy Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards, as well as music videos.

Born on 11 January 1975, Akhtar is a member of the American Cinema Editors and has served on the Directors Guild of America National Board.
