Biography
Karen Hall is an American television writer and producer. She was born on 2 June 1956 in Chatham, Virginia. She graduated with a B.A. in English from the College of William and Mary in 1978 and received an M.F.A. in playwriting from the University of Virginia in 1979.
Hall began her television career as a story editor on Eight Is Enough (1977) and as a writer on MASH (1980–1983), where she became the show's first female staff writer. She has written for numerous series including Hill Street Blues (1981), Moonlighting (1985), Northern Exposure (1990), Judging Amy (1999), The Good Wife (2009) and Quantum Leap (1989). She has also written the novel Dark Debts* (1996).
Hall has received seven Primetime Emmy Award nominations, a Writers Guild of America Award, the Humanitas Prize and the Women in Film Luminas Award.
