Biography
Karen I. Stern is a film and television editor. She began her career in the editorial department on feature films, working as assistant editor on Reds (1981), A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985), Broadcast News (1987) and Say Anything... (1989).
Stern has edited numerous television series and films. Her credits include episodes of Equal Justice (1991), I'll Fly Away (1991), NYPD Blue (1995–1996), Profiler (1996–1998) and L.A. Doctors (1998–1999). She has been a primary editor on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit since 1999.
In 2013 she became the first editor credited with cutting 100 episodes of a single one-hour series for her work on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She has received Primetime Emmy and American Cinema Editors nominations for her editing.
