Biography
LaTanya Richardson Jackson is an American actress. Born LaTanya Richardson on 21 October 1949 in Atlanta, Georgia, she graduated from Spelman College and began her career in off-Broadway productions in New York before taking supporting roles in film and television.
Her film credits include Fried Green Tomatoes (1991), Malcolm X (1992), Sleepless in Seattle (1993), Lone Star (1996) as Priscilla Worth, U.S. Marshals (1998) and The Fighting Temptations (2003). Television appearances encompass 100 Centre Street (2001–2002), Grey's Anatomy, Blue Bloods, Luke Cage (2016–2018) and Show Me a Hero (2015).
She has also worked extensively on stage, receiving Tony Award nominations for Broadway revivals of A Raisin in the Sun and other productions. She is married to actor Samuel L. Jackson.
