Biography
Luigi Pistilli (19 July 1929 – 21 April 1996) was an Italian actor of stage, screen and television. He was born in Grosseto and studied acting at Milan's Piccolo Teatro, graduating in 1955. He maintained strong ties to the theatre throughout his career, appearing in productions directed by Giorgio Strehler and in plays by Bertolt Brecht.
Pistilli is known for his roles in Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns, including Groggy in For a Few Dollars More (1965) and Father Pablo Ramirez in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966). He appeared in other westerns such as Death Rides a Horse (1967) and The Great Silence (1968), and in gialli including A Bay of Blood (1971) and Your Vice Is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key (1972). He also worked in television, notably in the series La piovra.
