Biography

Luke Watson is a British director and writer. Born in London in 1971, he studied film and television direction at the Royal College of Art.

He has directed episodes of numerous television series, including Shameless (2012–2013), Britannia (2018–2019), Ripper Street (2016), The Swarm (2023) and Midsomer Murders (2014). He co-created and co-wrote the four-part thriller series The Drowning (2021) for Channel 5.

Watson directed episodes of Criminal Justice (2008), the first series of which won the BAFTA for Best Drama Serial. He has also directed single dramas for the BBC, including Random Quest (2006) and A View from a Hill (2005).
