Biography
Mae Whitman is an American actor. She was born on 9 June 1988 in Los Angeles, California. She began her career as a child in television commercials and made her film debut at the age of six in When a Man Loves a Woman (1994).
As a child actor she appeared in Independence Day (1996), One Fine Day (1996) and Hope Floats (1998), and had recurring television roles in Chicago Hope (1996–1999) and JAG (1998–2001). She later played Ann Veal in Arrested Development (2004–2006, 2013) and Amber Holt in Parenthood (2010–2015).
Whitman played Mary Elizabeth in The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012). Her other film roles include Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010) and The DUFF (2015). She has also worked extensively as a voice actor, including as Katara in Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005–2008).
