Biography
Michael McDonald (born 31 December 1964) is an American actor, comedian, writer and director. He was born in Fullerton, California, and graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in business before working as a loan officer. He later trained with the Groundlings improv troupe in Los Angeles from 1992 to 1997.
McDonald is best known for his ten seasons as a cast member on the sketch comedy series MADtv (1998–2008), where he was the longest-tenured performer. He has directed numerous television episodes, including twelve of Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013–2021) and one of The Good Place (2016), as well as multiple episodes of Cougar Town, for which he also wrote and produced. His acting credits include roles in films such as Spy (2015), The Heat (2013) and Ghostbusters (2016), and earlier appearances in the Austin Powers series.
