Biography
Michael S. Chernuchin is an American television writer and producer. He was born on 3 October 1954 in Washington, District of Columbia. He holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College, an M.A. in English from the University of Michigan, and a J.D. from Cornell Law School.
Chernuchin began his television career as a staff writer on the series Eddie Dodd in 1991 before joining Law & Order (1990) as a writer, story editor and later producer. He contributed numerous episodes across multiple seasons, including writing, story and teleplay credits. He later worked as a consulting producer and writer on 24 (2001).
His other credits include writing for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Black Sails and Marco Polo, as well as serving as showrunner on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (seasons 19–20) and Chicago Justice. He is married to writer Janis Diamond.
