Biography
Nicholas Jones is an English actor born on 3 April 1946 in London. He is the son of actor Griffith Jones and the younger brother of actress Gemma Jones. He was educated at Westminster School and has worked in theatre, film and television since 1969.
Jones has performed at the Royal National Theatre and in the West End, appeared with the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1999, and starred at Shakespeare's Globe. On television he played Captain Triggers in the 1970s series Wings and Jeremy Aldermarten QC across all six series of Kavanagh QC.
His film roles include Sir John Soane in Mr Turner (2014), Pollard Senior in In the Heart of the Sea (2015), Sir John Simon in Darkest Hour (2017), and Professor Rodney Carter in The Children Act (2017). He has also appeared in The Crown (2016) as Lord Moran and House of the Dragon (2022) as Lord Bartimos Celtigar.
