Biography
Norma Moriceau (15 April 1944 – 21 August 2016) was an Australian costume designer and production designer. Born in New South Wales, she began her career in modelling and fashion in Sydney before moving to London in the 1960s, where she worked as a photographer, stylist and editor for magazines including Nineteen and Vogue. She collaborated with Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood and styled the Sex Pistols for the film The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle (1980).
Returning to Australia in the late 1970s, Moriceau moved into film costume design. Her early credits include Newsfront (1978) and Fatty Finn (1980). She gained prominence for her work on Mad Max 2 (1981) and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985), drawing on punk and fetish aesthetics. Other notable films include Crocodile Dundee (1986) and its sequel, Dead Calm (1989), Patriot Games (1992), The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996) and Babe: Pig in the City (1998). She won three Australian Film Institute Awards for costume design.
