Biography
Pat Laffan was an Irish actor. He played George Burgess in the 1993 film The Snapper and Pat Mustard in the Father Ted episode "Speed 3" (1998).
Born in County Meath, he graduated in engineering from University College Dublin before joining the Abbey Theatre company in 1961. He remained with the company until 1979, with a break in the early 1970s, and served as director of the Peacock Theatre for much of the 1970s. He also directed at the Gate Theatre from 1979 to 1982.
Laffan appeared in around 40 films, including Barry Lyndon (1975), My Left Foot (1989), The General (1998), Intermission (2003), Leap Year (2010) and War Horse (2011), and in television series such as The Queen (2006), Ripper Street (2012) and EastEnders. He died in Dublin on 14 March 2019.
