Biography

Patricia Velásquez is a Venezuelan actress and model. Born Patricia Carola Velásquez Semprún on 31 January 1971 in Maracaibo, she began her career as a model in the late 1980s, walking for designers including Chanel and appearing in campaigns for brands such as Victoria's Secret.

She is best known for portraying Anck-Su-Namun in The Mummy (1999) and its sequel The Mummy Returns (2001). Her other film credits include Mindhunters (2004), The Curse of La Llorona (2019) and Malignant (2021). Television appearances include roles in Arrested Development (2003), CSI: Miami (2002), The L Word (2004) and Ugly Betty (2006).

In 2002 Velásquez founded the Wayuu Taya Foundation to support indigenous communities in Venezuela and Colombia. She was appointed a UNESCO Artist for Peace in 2003.
