Biography

Rachel Weisz is a British actress. Born on 7 March 1970 in Westminster, London, she began acting in stage and television productions in the early 1990s and made her film debut in Death Machine (1994).

Her breakthrough came with the role of Evelyn Carnahan in The Mummy (1999) and its sequel The Mummy Returns (2001). She has since appeared in films including Constantine (2005), The Constant Gardener (2005), The Bourne Legacy (2012), The Lobster (2015), The Favourite (2018) and Black Widow (2021). In 2026 she played M in the series Vladimir.

Weisz studied at the University of Cambridge. On stage she appeared in the 1994 revival of Noël Coward’s Design for Living and the 1999 Donmar Warehouse production of Tennessee Williams’ Suddenly Last Summer. She has received an Academy Award, a BAFTA, a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Laurence Olivier Award.
