Biography
Paula Milne is a British screenwriter. Born on 20 June 1947 in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, she studied fine art and film at the Central School of Art and the Royal College of Art before entering television as a script reader.
She created the BBC nursing series Angels and wrote episodes for series including Coronation Street, Juliet Bravo and Shoestring. Her early single plays appeared in the Play for Today anthology. Milne is best known for the Channel 4 serial The Politician's Wife (1995), which she wrote and which won a BAFTA and an International Emmy; she later wrote the companion series The Politician's Husband (2013). Other credits include the screenplays for Mad Love (1995), I Dreamed of Africa (2000) and Endgame (2009), and adaptations such as Small Island (2009) and The Night Watch (2011).
Her twin sister, Claudia Milne, is a television producer.
