Biography
Paulette Randall is a British theatre and television director. Born in London in 1961, she trained as an actress at the Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama before moving into direction. She co-founded the Theatre of Black Women in 1982 and later served as artistic director of Talawa Theatre Company.
She has directed episodes of television series including Coronation Street (since 2025), Casualty (2018), EastEnders, Hollyoaks, Death in Paradise, Tin Star, Silent Witness and Holby City. Her producing credits include Desmond's (1989–1994). In theatre, she has directed productions such as Fences at the Duchess Theatre in 2013, becoming the first black female director to stage a West End production.
Randall was associate director of the opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics. She was appointed MBE in the 2015 Queen's Birthday Honours for services to drama.
