Biography

Peter Bonerz (born 6 August 1938) is an American actor and director. He was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he attended Marquette University.

Bonerz began his career in improvisational theatre in New York and San Francisco before moving into television acting in the 1960s. He is best known for playing Dr Jerry Robinson on the sitcom The Bob Newhart Show (1972–78), for which he also directed 29 episodes. As a director he has worked on numerous comedy series, including The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1974), Murphy Brown (93 episodes), Home Improvement (29 episodes), Friends (12 episodes), ALF, Wings, NewsRadio, Just Shoot Me! and Joey. He has also directed the feature films Police Academy 6: City Under Siege (1989) and Nobody's Perfekt (1981).
