Biography

Peter Francis is an English production designer and art director. Born in 1965 in Holderness, Yorkshire, he began his career in the art department on major studio films, including set design on Titanic (1997) and draughtsman work on The Fifth Element (1997). He contributed art direction to the Harry Potter films, Batman Begins (2005) and Casino Royale (2006).

Francis moved into production design on independent features and television in the 2010s. His work on The Father (2020) earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Production Design, shared with set decorator Cathy Featherstone, as well as a BAFTA nomination and a British Film Designers Guild award. He has also designed Mindhorn (2016), The Children Act (2017) and later features including The Pigeon Tunnel (2023).
