Biography
Philip Jackson is an English actor. He was born on 18 June 1948 in Retford, Nottinghamshire, and began acting while studying drama and German at the University of Bristol. He has worked extensively in theatre in Leeds, Liverpool and London.
Jackson is known for his television roles as Chief Inspector Japp in Agatha Christie's Poirot and Abbot Hugo in Robin of Sherwood. His film credits include Jim in Brassed Off (1996), a part in My Week with Marilyn (2011) and Fred in The Best Offer (2013). He received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for the ensemble cast of Little Voice (1998). Other television appearances include Midsomer Murders, Little Britain and Death in Paradise.
