Biography
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was a Russian composer of the Romantic period. He studied at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory and became the first Russian composer to achieve lasting international recognition.
His best-known works include the ballets The Nutcracker (1892) and Sleeping Beauty (1890), as well as the 1812 Overture and several symphonies. Tchaikovsky's music featured in the Walt Disney film Fantasia (1940), with selections from The Nutcracker Suite forming one of the animated segments.
