Biography
Richard Appel is an American writer and producer. Born in New York City on 21 May 1963, he attended Harvard University, where he wrote for the Harvard Lampoon, and Harvard Law School. He worked as a lawyer, including as an assistant United States attorney, before moving into television writing.
He joined the writing staff of The Simpsons in 1994, serving as writer, story editor, producer and co-executive producer until 1998. He later became showrunner and executive producer on King of the Hill, co-created The Cleveland Show, and has worked as executive producer on Family Guy since 2012. His other credits include The Bernie Mac Show and American Dad!. He has won three Primetime Emmy Awards.
