Biography

Richard Beymer is an American actor, filmmaker and visual artist. Born George Richard Beymer Jr. on 20 February 1938 in Avoca, Iowa, he began his career as a child actor and made his feature film debut in Vittorio De Sica's Stazione Termini (1953).

He rose to prominence with roles including Peter van Daan in The Diary of Anne Frank (1959) and Tony in the 1961 film adaptation of West Side Story. Beymer later played Benjamin Horne in the television series Twin Peaks (1990–1991) and reprised the role in 2017. His other credits include The Longest Day (1962), appearances in The X-Files, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Murder, She Wrote, and work as a director.
