Biography

Rick Overton is an American actor and screenwriter. Born on 10 August 1954 in Forest Hills, Queens, New York, he grew up in Englewood, New Jersey, and attended Dwight Morrow High School. His father, Hall Overton, was a music arranger and teacher; his mother, Nancy Overton (née Swain), was a singer who performed with The Chordettes.

Overton began performing stand-up comedy in high school and made his screen debut in the early 1980s. He is known for roles in films including Beverly Hills Cop (1984), Willow (1988) as Franjean, Groundhog Day (1993) as Ralph, Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), Cloverfield (2008) and The Informant! (2009) as Terry Wilson. His television appearances include The Office (2005) and Lost (2004). As a writer, he contributed to Dennis Miller Live and received a Primetime Emmy Award.
