Biography
Robert De Grasse (9 February 1900 – 28 January 1971) was an American cinematographer. Born in Maplewood, New Jersey, he began his career as an assistant cameraman and became a full-time cinematographer by the age of 21. He was a member of the American Society of Cinematographers and the nephew of actor Sam De Grasse.
De Grasse worked on more than 100 films, including Alice Adams (1935), Stage Door (1937), Vivacious Lady (1938), Bachelor Mother (1939), The Leopard Man (1943), The Body Snatcher (1945), Born to Kill (1947) and The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer (1947). He received an Academy Award nomination for Best Cinematography for Vivacious Lady. In later years he contributed to television series including I Love Lucy and The Dick Van Dyke Show.
