Biography

Sandra Voe is a Scottish actress of film, television and theatre. Born Sandra Williamson on 6 October 1936 in the Shetland Islands, she began her screen career in 1966 with an appearance in an episode of Dr. Finlay's Casebook.

Her film roles include Mrs Fraser in Local Hero (1983), the Bag Lady in Naked (1993), Mother in Breaking the Waves (1996), Marie Fröhlich in Immortal Beloved (1994), Vera's Mother in Vera Drake (2004) and the Witch in the series Vikings (2013). She has appeared in numerous British television series including Coronation Street, Midsomer Murders, Shetland and Call the Midwife. Voe has performed in theatres across the UK, including the Royal National Theatre, Royal Court and Manchester Royal Exchange. She was married to actor Rex Doyle from 1963 until his death in 2015; they had three children.
