Biography
Santo Loquasto is an American production designer, scenic designer and costume designer for stage, film and dance. Born on 26 July 1944 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, he studied at King's College, Pennsylvania, and received an MFA from Yale University. He began his career designing for regional theatre, including the Showcase Theatre in his hometown, before his Broadway debut with Sticks and Bones in 1972.
Loquasto has worked on approximately 100 Broadway productions as scenic or costume designer, or both, receiving 21 Tony Award nominations and winning four times. He has also designed for dance companies and choreographers including Twyla Tharp and Mark Morris. In film he has collaborated extensively with Woody Allen, serving as production designer on Husbands and Wives (1992), Bullets Over Broadway (1994), Radio Days (1987) and many later titles including Blue Jasmine (2013). He received Academy Award nominations for production design on Bullets Over Broadway and Radio Days, and for costume design on Zelig (1983).
