Woody Allen is an American film director, screenwriter and actor, also credited as Allan Stewart Konigsberg and Heywood Allen. He was born on 30 November 1935 in The Bronx, New York City.

He began his career writing jokes and performing stand-up comedy. Allen has directed and written numerous films, including Annie Hall (1977), Manhattan (1979), Husbands and Wives (1992) and Bullets Over Broadway (1994).
