Biography

Sara Murphy is an American film and music video producer. She began her career as an assistant to Philip Seymour Hoffman and served as associate producer on his 2010 directorial debut Jack Goes Boating.

Murphy has produced independent features including Land Ho! (2014), If Beale Street Could Talk (2018), Never Rarely Sometimes Always (2020) and Licorice Pizza (2021). She has collaborated extensively with Paul Thomas Anderson on music videos and films such as Anima (2019) and One Battle After Another (2025). She previously worked with the production company PASTEL and co-founded Fat City in 2022.

Her producing credits also include Gemini (2017), The Mountain (2018), Mother, Couch (2023), If I Had Legs I'd Kick You (2025) and The History of Sound (2025). She has received awards including the Independent Spirit John Cassavetes Award and the Academy Award for Best Picture for One Battle After Another.
