Biography

Scott Ellis (born 19 April 1957) is an American stage and television director. He trained at the Goodman School of Drama at the Art Institute of Chicago (now part of DePaul University) and studied drama at HB Studio in New York City. He began his career as a stage actor before moving into directing.

Ellis has directed numerous Broadway and Off-Broadway productions and has been Associate Artistic Director of the Roundabout Theatre Company since 1998. On television he has directed episodes of Frasier (1993), Weeds (2005), 30 Rock (2006), Desperate Housewives (2004), Modern Family (2009), The Good Wife (2009), Nurse Jackie (2009), 2 Broke Girls (2011) and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017), among others. He served as executive producer on Weeds and received an Emmy nomination for directing an episode of 30 Rock.
