Biography
Scott Rubenstein was an American television writer and story editor. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he served in the Peace Corps as a teacher in the Philippines before returning to the United States to teach in Sacramento. He entered and won a writing contest sponsored by 20th Century Fox, which led him to Los Angeles and the studio's comedy writing workshop.
Rubenstein wrote episodes for numerous series, including Diff'rent Strokes, Cagney & Lacey, Benson, Nine to Five, MacGyver, Night Court and Hunter. He served as story editor on Star Trek: The Next Generation and wrote the episode "The Dauphin". He wrote more than thirty television episodes over his career and later taught screenwriting, comedy writing and adaptation at institutions including California State University, Northridge and the University of Southern California.
