Biography
Simon Chandler is a British film, television and theatre actor. Born on 4 June 1953 in Luton, Bedfordshire, he was educated at Bedford School and began his career in 1976.
His early film roles include Private Simmonds in A Bridge Too Far (1977) and the voice of Merry in the 1978 animated adaptation of The Lord of the Rings. He appeared as Lieutenant James in the 1981 television adaptation of Brideshead Revisited. Chandler has frequently played senior establishment figures such as MPs and civil servants.
Later credits include Vera Drake (2004), Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006), The King's Speech (2010), The Iron Lady (2011), The Theory of Everything (2014), The Crown (2016) and House of the Dragon (2022).
