Biography
Susan Lynch is a Northern Irish actress. Born in 1971 in Corrinshego, County Armagh, she trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. Her elder brother is the actor John Lynch.
She is known for film roles including Maggie O'Toole in Waking Ned (1998), the title role in Nora (2000), Liz Stride in From Hell (2001) and a leading part in 16 Years of Alcohol (2003). Television credits include Maria Orton in the series Bodies (2004), Alison Garrs in Happy Valley (2014) and Tara Gibbs in Sex Education (2019).
Lynch has won three Irish Film and Television Academy Awards, including Best Leading Actress for Nora. She also received the British Independent Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for 16 Years of Alcohol. In 2020 she was placed at number 42 on The Irish Times list of Ireland's greatest film actors.
